I DO consider myself something of a hipster, so of course I have to make my kiddos rap. Their ABCs of course. Warning: 5-year-olds tend to fall victim to sudden bursts of break-dancing energy during and after song. We play this EVERY day during snack, between math and reading.

[Sight Word Scavenger Hunt]
Make a list of 12-20 Kinder sight words and copy them all on different colors of paper. Get the kids into small groups and name their groups by the colors of paper you chose. Have those kids collect sight words that match their group's color. Together, they need to figure out which words they have (even though they'll all end up having the same words). Next....
They fill this page out as a group. You give each kid a different colored pencil so that you can see who was doing what work. They now have writing practice where they have to write all the words.
These boys are doing a nice job of deligating who gets to write which words :) Don't'cha just love student engagement?!
